I now take my pen in hand to let you know that I am well at present hope you are the same we got paid of the other day I have not had a chance to send it until now there is a fellow in our Co that is going to Orleans and I am going to send it by him we are about one hundred and seventy five miles from New Orleans and about twenty five miles from New Orleans and about twenty five from Opelousas the reason that I have not wrote oftener is becose I got out of posted Stamps I did not want to send letters without them it is after nine Oclock now and I must close there is no news to write now don’t let Charles or anybody else know that I have sent you any money pleas excuse me for not writing anymore for I have no time give my respecks to all the folks from
