28th worked 5 hours on Wd. M. E.
-put the block under Piston – ^ at night
The Engine makes more noise
than it ought – Piston a
little low + to the left.
Took Piston apart at noon.
29th Engine makes a little noise
runs pretty well-
At noon set regulator so
as run the Engine a little fast-
er. Rigid up crophead end of
Con. rod + raised crophead –
Concluded not to put any extra
weight on the Safety valves, as
the No 2 boiler was only tested
to 167 lbs. – after its arrival
Worked 4 hours on W. Mill Engine

Wire Mill Engine 7”x15”x118 rev. 12 hours
Feed water pumped through exhaust.
Average 450 lbs. a day during the
year. heat up 9 months
4 to 6 months have to let steam
in from boiler – When the Indi-
cater was put on Feb.
a warm time, when the exhaust
was sufficient to do the heating
they burned 366.6 lbs a day.
1st Aug. J.B.P. + 6 oz heater weighed
672 lbs. J.B.P. + 6 oz bill $82.
Worked on Wd Mill Eng. 6 hours.
