BSQ will highlight the music of the Civil War including President Lincoln’s favorite composer Louis Moreau Gottschalk, the Creole-influenced American Chopin. BSQ’s Peter Cokkinias, Tom Ferrante, Bob Bowlby, and Rod Ferland will explore Civil War era composers such as Stephen Foster (Oh, Susanna), George Root (Battle Hymn of the Republic), Patrick Gilmore (When Jonny Comes Marching Home Again), and Daniel Decatur Emmett (Dixie).
