14th Nov.  Warrenton, Va
Left the body of Corp. Perry in
care of A.H. Gatton(?) – just west
of R.R. Station ­- Paid him
$25.00 for coffin + sealed case
+ sent a receipt by mail +
one by a man to take to Washing
ton + send thence by E + prep(?).
Gave him a dollar to pay for
forwarding it.  Left a bundle
of things with Mr. Gatton.
– Sent to Mary to hand to Mrs.
$5.05 found with him + 54 cts for
18 P.O. Stamps also a lock of hair
– Sent my Harpers Ferry minister(?)
– Summers Corps is at Mintu(?).
went down through Snickers gap.
20th Maine is there(?) 1st Lt. Rupat(?)
is reported at home sick.
Left for camp about dark.
Arrived about 8.  Read letter #14
from Mary + one from B. RS.
Sent #10 letter to Mary

15th Camp(?) at Carters Run near Waterloo(?)
During night private     Swift
of C oB. died [] H.  Sent.
Reed orders early to strike tents
– Got under way at about 8 ½ a.m.
Marched acrop to Warrenton Pik(?)
+ so on Southerly to Warrenton
white Sulphur Springs –
drew up in line of battle in a
hollow – just out of sight of the
hill acrop the Rapahannock where
the Rebel artillery had been stationed
First orders not to show ourselves
on the hill – Soon had leave to
go anywhere  Went to see the
Ruins of the Hotel destroyed
August –
Marched 7 miles
N. Springs are 6 ½ miles from
Warrenton – 10 from Rap. Station
1/4 mile from [].
Drew rations for 70 men – 2 days
S. + C. came tomorrow 1 [] [] Bread
64 miles this month 75 ½ mile
